• Don’t feed them – ensure good hygiene by cleaning floors and surfaces regularly especially behind cookers and in corners. Store food in sealed containers.
• Keep gardens clean and tidy – an overgrown garden provides a good home for mice and rats.
• Put rubbish out in sealed bags or bins. Don’t allow rubbish to build up outside that will attract vermin and provide a place for them to live.
• Use a bird table to feed the birds – putting bird food on the ground can attract rats as can putting food in a compost heap.
• Talk to your neighbours and ask them to help. It is very difficult to treat for pests in a single property.
